1993 - Elkview, West Virginia
Sometime between 1993. I was taking some mail to the mailbox
(between 9:00pm and 11:00pm I think) and was looking at the stars. It was
a very clear night and I could see quite a few so I stood and looked
awhile. After about 5 minutes what I thought was a meteor appeared. I was
bored and shined my flashlight on it. To my surprise it stopped. Another
light flew away at a 90 degree angle from the first's trajectory and
crossed the horizon almost before I realized it was there. The first
continued on (only faster) and eventually crossed the horizon also.
I think the first was blue (or green) and the second red (or brown).
Since I'm partially colorblind I can't say for sure. They were both about
the size of a star (maybe a little larger). I can't estimate their
altitude. I have watched planes many times and those lights were not
planes. They moved much too fast. It takes at least 2 minutes for a plane
to cross my view from my yard. The second light was out of sight in about
a second and the first (after the second light appeared) was out of sight
in about 5 seconds (before the second light appeared, this light was
moving faster than a plane but slower than a meteor and was visible for
about 15 seconds).
The lights didn't blink or curve and I didn't hear anything.
